Volunteer with us
If you’d like to help with our work, tell us what interests you and the time you could offer.

What you could bring
You might enjoy research, writing or organising things. You may have professional skills, experience of the criminal justice system or an interest in learning.
We welcome enquiries about volunteering. What we can offer will depend on the work that needs doing and our capacity to support a role.
Areas you might be interested in
These examples can help you describe your interests. They are not a list of current vacancies.

Finding a role that works
Tell us what interests you
Send a short expression of interest with the kind of work you enjoy and roughly how much time you could offer.
Explore whether a role is possible
A role depends on the work that needs doing and our capacity to support it. The areas above describe interests, not current vacancies or a guaranteed placement.
Discuss the details before deciding
If there is a potential role, we will discuss its tasks, time commitment, support and any checks needed. An enquiry does not commit you to volunteering.
What to clarify before you start
A role needs to work for you as well as Conviction. When discussing one, ask about:
- The tasks, boundaries and who you would go to for support.
- Any age or location requirements, working arrangements and time commitment.
- The induction, training or supervision available for that work.
- Any checks, why they are needed and when information would be requested.
- Equipment, phone or internet costs and whether any expenses can be reimbursed.
Do not incur expenses expecting reimbursement unless this has been agreed beforehand.
Your experience and access needs
Experience of the criminal justice system can be relevant, but you do not need to tell a personal story to express an interest. Please do not send criminal record details, identity documents or medical information in your first message.
Tell us what would make a discussion easier, such as written questions or more time to respond. We can discuss what is possible. See our communication and format guidance.
Before providing information for any checks, ask which checks apply to the role and for the relevant recruitment privacy information. Our website and initial contact privacy information does not replace this.
Email us about volunteering
